Vinexpo Shanghai is the flagship event for wine and spirits industry professionals in China this year. Following its success in Hong Kong, Vinexpo is building its presence in China with this new event to further strengthen links with this rapidly growing market.

Shanghai is recognized as a strategic import hub in mainland China. With this new show, Vinexpo is capitalizing on its 20 years of experience in Asia to help its customers deepen their penetration across this market.

Vinexpo Shanghai will bring together qualified professionals – over 5,000 trade visitors are expected – and leading industry brands in an international setting, during this favorable business period; the perfect time to finalize Chinese New Year orders.

To boost the success of this first show, Vinexpo and e-commerce giant Alibaba are combining their know-how to benefit the entire wine and spirits sector. This is an opportunity for the show’s participants to get to better know key online sales players, and to boost their e-commerce presence.

Join us from 23 to 25 October 2019 at the prestigious Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center (SWEECC), for a show with a resolutely professional focus.

Affordable Spanish and Chilean wines are experiencing the strongest growth in terms of volume outside their domestic markets, while New Zealand, US, Australian and French wines dominate growth in the high-end segment of the export market. An ever-increasing number of new, better informed, Chinese consumers are swapping the traditional Baijiu for international wines and spirits. This predilection is also accompanied by a preference for consuming products with a higher value and an increasing average price. There is a ‘premiumisation’ of the market.

Breakdown of wine sales by volume

Online wine sales via leading platforms such as T-Mall (Alibaba) have surpassed those of the hypermarkets and department stores, to become the second most popular channel for buying wine: 49% of drinkers of imported wine from China’s urban upper middle classes buy their wine online. It is therefore vital to have presence in this distribution channel. Alibaba, China’s top online marketplace, is Vinexpo’s partner at this show.

With a dedicated team based in Shanghai, Vinexpo ensures proximity to visitors from mainland China. This will strengthen its ties with the 30,000 trade buyers who have already chosen Vinexpo to grow their business and network. To increase business opportunities in the ultra-connected Chinese market, Vinexpo is investing in ambitious multi-channel advertising, including WeChat and Weibo, and forging a strategic partnership with e-commerce giant Alibaba.

All these commitments will ensure your participation in Vinexpo Shanghai is a success!
